Susep set to finally release 2013 insurance figures
By Natan Levy – BNamericas – Tuesday, May 20, 2014
Following a six-month information blackout from Susep, BNamericas has learnt that the Brazilian insurance regulator will release the country’s 2013 insurance market figures before the World Cup kicks off. A spokesperson for Susep confirmed to BNamericas that it is working to release the figures on June 9. Following a change introduced by Susep to the reporting methodology employed by Brazilian based insurance firms, the regulator halted the release of market data in November to give the companies time to adjust. The Susep decision led to delays in the reporting of data, leaving the industry unclear as to the final 2013 growth figure for what is Latin America’s largest insurance market. The situation regarding the backlog of statistics from the last four months of the year remains unclear.
